LOXUp is an online service from LOXBOX that monitors the availability of your websites and servers (HTTP, TCP, Ping) as well as the expiry date of your SSL certificates, and alerts you by email, SMS or push notification if there is a problem.
LOXUp offers three types of availability check: HTTP (does the site respond correctly?), TCP (is a specific port open?) and ICMP Ping (does the machine respond on the network?). SSL/TLS certificate monitoring is added on top.
LOXUp sends you alerts before the certificate expires, for example 15 days before the deadline, so you have time to renew it before your visitors see a security warning.
Alerts are sent by email, by SMS (via WinSMS in Tunisia) and by push notification.
Yes. LOXUp's team management routes each alert to all authorised contacts, so the right person is warned even when you are away.
Yes. Incidents are archived permanently: you can check at any time when an outage started, how long it lasted and when the service came back.
LOXUp is a web application: all you need is a browser. Go to the LOXUp application to log in or create your access.
Ping (ICMP) checks that the machine is reachable on the network. TCP checks that a specific port (for example 443, 25 or 3306) accepts connections. HTTP checks that a website or API really responds to a web request. The higher up you go, the closer the test is to the user's experience.
LOXUp runs high-frequency checks, so that an outage is detected quickly rather than after several hours.
The stability chart shows a monitor's behaviour over different periods: 5 minutes, 1 hour, 24 hours or several days. It helps you spot a gradual degradation of response times or repeated outages.
Because automatic renewal can fail silently: DNS change, migrated server, disabled scheduled task, quota reached at the certificate authority. An independent alert warns you before the failure becomes visible to your visitors.
Yes. LOXUp's SMS alerts are sent through WinSMS, an SMS provider in Tunisia.
LOXUp is a product of the company LOXBOX.
No. This showcase site includes no advertising tracking script or audience analytics tool by default.
Glossary
- Uptime (availability)
- The proportion of time during which a service is reachable and working. It is expressed as a percentage: 99.9% over a month represents about 43 minutes of unavailability.
- Downtime
- A period during which a service is unavailable or not responding correctly.
- SSL
- Secure Sockets Layer: the former protocol for encrypting web traffic. The term is still commonly used to refer to certificates and HTTPS.
- TLS
- Transport Layer Security: the modern successor to SSL, which actually encrypts HTTPS connections today.
- Certificate
- A file issued by a certificate authority that proves a domain's identity and makes it possible to establish an encrypted connection. It has a start date and an end date of validity.
- Expiry
- The date after which a certificate is no longer considered valid: browsers then display a security warning.
- HTTP
- The web protocol. An HTTP check sends a request to a URL and verifies that the server responds correctly.
- TCP
- A transport protocol. A TCP check tests that a given port on a server accepts connections.
- ICMP / Ping
- A network control protocol. Ping sends an ICMP packet and waits for a reply to verify that a machine is reachable.
- Response time
- The time, in milliseconds, between sending a check and the service's response.
Be warned before your users are.
Add your websites, servers and certificates to LOXUp and get an alert by email, SMS or push notification as soon as a problem appears.
